"This is to Councilman McClure. I am not a baseball fan, but it is my opinion that the city has a lot of misjudgments about this whole issue with the ball stadium. First, with all the taxpayers' money that the city has used to renovate the Public Square, the first thing I noticed is that the Public Square hasn't done anything to regenerate funds or create an even better tax base. I am not an expert in this, but it seems to me that the Suns at least are generating some kind of tax revenue for this area and they have attempted to make known that the funds would be repaid. Now in my opinion that sounds more reasonable than renovating the Public Square and trying to regenerate some kind of business for Hagerstown."
"I want to congratulate my grandson Cody on making the all-stars and I would also like to congratulate my daughter Gidget for being a new homeowner."
"I know the deadly accident on the Greencastle Pike on Friday. A 50 mph speed limit with no signs to warn you of the curve. Since Maryland State Highway officials have not corrected the problem, where are our state senator and our state delegates? Someone please do something before someone else dies."
"I beg to differ, we do not need a Wal-Mart in the Keedysville, Boonsboro area."
"We would love to have Wal-Mart in Sharpsburg. Why don't we just build it on the battlefield?"
"I am reading about Long Meadow and Maugansville Fire Company not having a place to have the carnival. What is wrong with them having it at the fairgrounds? At least let them have something like that. If the city of Hagerstown can help build a stadium that we don't need, they can at least help the fire companies that we very much need and depend on."
"To the person who invited Wal-Mart to come down to the Keedysville, Sharpsburg and Boonsboro area, you are certainly not speaking for everyone. There is more to life than shopping, such as open space."
"I support Hagerstown Councilman McClure 100 percent and I support Funkstown Mayor Kline 100 percent. Funkstown has too much traffic on its main street already. Please leave Funkstown alone."
"I am calling because we lost our pet parrot in Halfway. If anyone finds him he is dark gray on the outside and light gray feathers underneath, bright red tail, his eyes haven't changed to dark yet, because he is still a baby. Please call me at 301-582-3772. He probably won't bite, but give me a call and I will come get him."
