Nellie I. Stine

Nellie Irene Stine, 93, of 1319 Hamilton Blvd., died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 23, 1906, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Peters Gutshall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gilbert "Ted" Stine.

She started the Serv-U-Vending Co. in 1938 and was chairman of the board, retiring at age 72. She owned the Round Corner Grill.

She served on the ration board during World War II.

She was a member of Haven Lutheran Church.

She was president of Soroptomist Club and Women's Club; a member of Fountain Head Country Club, and played the organ at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Joan Jordan of Rockville, Md.; one son, J. Douglas Stine of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jacqueline Watts; one son, Charles G. Stine; a half-sister and a half-brother.

Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. David B. Kaplan will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown.

Richard L. Young Sr.

Richard L. "Dick" Young Sr., 62, of 720 Maryland Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu.

Born March 28, 1938, in Washington County, he was the son of the late James T. Young Sr. and Mae F. Davis Young Powers.

He attended Hagerstown High School.

He retired from Fairchild Aircraft; and Rohr Industries.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1963.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member and past commander of AMVETS Post 10; a member of Sons of American Legion Dixon Troxell Post 211 of Funkstown; Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 694; Loyal Order of Moose National Chapter; Goodwill Athletic Association; Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa.; and VFW Post 6241 of Mercersburg, Pa.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Dinah L. Young; a son, Richard L. Young Jr. of Hagerstown; four stepdaughters, Brenda Wyand, Tammy Snyder and Kelly Nichols, all of Greencastle, Pa., and Bonnie Jo Bentley of Pearl City, Hawaii; a stepson, Douglas Fenwell of Hagerstown; three sisters, Alice M. Young, Shirley J. Gross and Mary E. Castle, all of Hawaii; four brothers, Edward W. Brown of St. Petersburg, Fla., Fred M. Young of Louisville, Miss., James T. Young Jr. of Hagerstown and William H. Young of Macon, Ga.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mae V. Rohrback; and a brother, Johnny E. Young.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Manor Cemetery in Tilghmanton, Md.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Michael K. Schuchman

STATE LINE, Pa. - Michael Kenneth Schuchman, 22, of 969 Redwood Drive, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Greencastle, Pa.

Born Oct. 25, 1977, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of William R. Schuchman Jr. and Diana E. Miller Schuchman of State Line.

He was a 1996 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

He worked for C. Earl Brown of Chambersburg, Pa. in the parts delivery department.

He was a member of Salem Reformed Church near Hagerstown.

He was a social member of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post of Greencastle; and a member of Thursday Night Bowling League at Nellie Fox Bowl of Chambersburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Matthew S. Schuchman, at home; paternal grandparents, William Schuchman Sr. and Olive Mae Schuchman of Greencastle; maternal grandparents, Rodney and Sally Bishop of State Line; maternal great-grandmother, Madalyn G. Walck of State Line; close friend, Jeanne Duffey of Greencastle; and aunts and uncles.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Salem Reformed Church in Hagerstown. The Rev. Roger Burtner will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.

There will be no public viewing; the family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. in Greencastle.

Ruth M. Kint

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Ruth M. Kint, 80, of 1501 Knoxlyn Road, died Thursday, July 13, 2000.

Born June 7, 1920, in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ida Mae Walker.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg.

She was a member of McKnightstown-Cashtown Senior Citizens; and YWCA of Gettysburg.
