Clarence C. Moyer

CASSELBERRY, Fla. - Clarence Calvin "Pete" Moyer, 76, of 875 Tumbleweed Loop, and formerly of 2375 Garfield St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Oct. 24, 1923, in Boiling Springs, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry and Bessie Motter Moyer.

He was a 1942 graduate of South Middleton Township High School in Boiling Springs.

He was employed by Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro in the engineering and foreign sales departments. He was employed by a box company in Florida for nine years, retiring in 1992.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a medic on a destroyer in Europe.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 731 of Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois Delp Moyer; a daughter, Patricia Horbath of Monroeville, Pa.; a son, Leonard Moyer of Columbia, Md.; a sister, Evelyn Carpenter of Carlisle, Pa.; two brothers, John Moyer of Gardners, Pa. and Charles Moyer of Boiling Springs; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Laverne Moyer, Samuel Moyer, Paul Moyer and Lawrence Moyer.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. Pastor Mary B. Zurell will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

There will be no public viewing; the family will receive friends Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Dorothy E. Hamby

Dorothy Elaine Sallin Hamby, 71, of 1207B Rose Hill Ave., who died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, is survived by three daughters, Linda L. Ebersole of Hagerstown, Teresa E. Tillman of Harrah, Okla., and Lana R. Johnson of Greencastle, Pa.

Stephen P. Jones

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Stephen Phillip Jones, 58, of Hedgesville, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at his home.

Born Sept. 20, 1941, in Greenbelt, Md., he was the son of the late Edward Clement Jones Sr. and Anna Viola Vadnais Jones.

He is survived by a daughter, Sonja Stesha Jones; and sisters and brothers.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shandra Patricia Jones.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22, at 10 a.m. at Buck Hill Church. The Rev. John Emmert will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Melvin E. Tattersall

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Melvin Edward Tattersall, 79, of Harpers Ferry, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 1, 1920, in Harpers Ferry, he was the son of the late Edward Grant and Stella Brashears Tattersall.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy May Ring Tattersall; two daughters, Nancy L. Mongold of Charles Town, W.Va. and Sarah L. VanMeter of Harpers Ferry; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Melott.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson, W.Va. The Rev. James Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Irene L. Lantz

Irene L. Lantz, 97, of 321 N. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.

Born July 31, 1902, near Chewsville, she was the daughter of the late Harvey C. and Emma H. Unger Lantz.

She was employed by Victor Hosiery.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter 3.

She is survived by a niece, Thelma L. Koontz of Waynesboro, Pa.; and two nephews, Robert K. Lantz of Ephrata, Pa. and Wilbur F. Lantz of Lancaster, Pa.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall L. Lantz and Reno C. Lantz.

Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Revs. Robert C. Lehman and Carroll Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Jerry R. Ailshie

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Jerry R. Ailshie, 73, of Locust Hill, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at his home.

Born Aug. 4, 1926, in Paris, Texas, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary Harvey Ailshie.

He retired from Vitro Corp. in Silver Spring, Md., after 23 years as an engineer.

He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
