Marie W. Price


WILLIAMSPORT - Marie Wood Price, 74, of 16613 Tammany Manor Road, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Homewood Nursing Home in Williamsport.

Born April 20, 1926, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward S. and Virginia K. Dearing Wood.

She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and Richmond Professional Institute. She attended The Synod of Virginia' School of Christian Education in Richmond, Va., Shepherd College and Washington Bible Institute. She was a member of the National Honor Society.

She was employed by the federal government with the Department of Veterans Affairs for 33 years.

She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Williamsport.

She excelled in many areas, primarily in her Christian vocation, through her special studies, music and writing and producing religious drama.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Norman G. Price; two daughters, Mary-Susan Goodman of Columbus, Ga., and Norma-Marie Kolson of Pittsburgh; a son, Jon-Mark Price of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, Charles W. Wood of Columbus; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha-Anne Price.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive in Williamsport. The Revs. Mark A. Sandell and Robert S. Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marie W. Price Academic Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive, Williamsport, MD 21795.

Mary A. Stevens


KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Mary Ada Stevens, 86, of Kearneysville, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at her home.

Born Nov. 2, 1913, in Bridgeton, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Manley and Jessie Monchier Foster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Melvin Stevens.

She was a boxmaker for a factory in Pennsville, N.J.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Salem, N.J.

She is survived by five daughters, Barbara Thompson of Lafayette, Colo., Nancy Stevens and Jerry Wyscoff, both of Bridgeton, Susanne Gladden of Gerrardstown, W.Va., and Claire Spears of Charles Town, W.Va.; two sons, Robert Stevens of Pennsville and Paul Stevens of Rubicon, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson, W.Va. The Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate.

A graveside service will be held at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. The Rev. David Poland will officiate.

The family will receive friends today at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thomas L. Pompell


Thomas Leroy Pompell, 57, of 12313 Learning Lane, Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at his home.

Born Feb. 14, 1943, in York, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles Pompell and Rosalie Welty Pompell Curry.

He was a self-employed carpet mechanic.

He was a member of National AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Donna L. Armstrong Pompell; a son, Thomas L. Pompell Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Heacock of Hagerstown; a stepson, Donnie Patrick Hartsock of Cavetown; a half sister, Belinda Curry of Michigan; three half brothers, Michael Curry, Robert Curry and Garry Curry, all of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown. The Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Susan B. McIntyre

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Susan Bertha McIntyre, 49, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital.

Born April 28, 1951, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Willard and Gladys Mae Holliday McIntyre.

She was employed by Senior Life Services of Morgan County; and East Ridge Health Center.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann Bennett, at home; a son, James Dean Bennett of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Gladys Jo Reuter of Hancock; a brother, Ira A. McIntyre of Berkeley Springs; an aunt; an uncle; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St. in Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Glenn Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 10 a.m.
