Charles W. Stouts


MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Charles William Stouts, 66, of 1221 Mountain Church Road, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at his home.

Born Jan. 25, 1934, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Alvie Sidney and Irene Isabell Waters Stouts.

He was employed by Vindobona Nursing Home in Braddock Heights, Md. in the Maintenance Department.

He was a Baptist.

He is survived by four sisters, Carol Zeisweiss of Middletown, Linda Simpson of Ranson, W.Va., Joan Payne of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Nancy Stuckey of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a brother, Kenneth Stouts of Rosemont, Md.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road in Brunswick, Md. The Rev. Daniel T. Spiker will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Lovettsville, Va.

The family will receive friends Sunday and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will open at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Vera V. Evans


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Vera V. Evans, 79, of 3031 Conner Drive, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at her home.

Born June 26, 1921, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Dutch and Cora Stoner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Evans, in 1990.

She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, 159 Lincoln Way West in Chambersburg, and was a member of the senior citizens group at the Salvation Army.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Hoover of Chambersburg; two sons, James R. Evans of Madison, Ala., and Kevin Keith Poe of Lewes, Del.; a sister, Mary Beaston of Waynesboro, Pa.; three brothers, Joseph Stoner, James Stoner and Clarence Stoner, all of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a sister and a brother.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave. in Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alma F. Rotz


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Alma F. Rotz, 95, a resident of Manorcare for the past two months and formerly of 39 W. King St., died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Manorcare.

Born May 5, 1905, in Shippensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Mose and Mary Holtry Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Henry Rotz, in 1953. They were married July 21, 1922.

She worked at the former Interwoven Hosiery Mill in Shippensburg as a kitchen worker and housekeeper.

She is survived by two grandsons, W. Andrew Stoveer of Chambersburg and Douglas K. Humelsine of Fayetteville, Pa.; two great-grandchildren; nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Janet R. Humelsine and Helen R. Stover; and three sisters, Lulu Schaeffer, Esther Shriner and Bessie Rankin.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.

There will be no public viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201; or Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, Inc., 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

David W. Frye


FREDERICK, Md. - David Wayne Frye, 45, of 119 S. Jefferson St., died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born June 6, 1955, in Ranson, W.Va., he was the son of Doris Kroushour Frye of Frederick and the late Roy Junior Frye.

He worked as a truck driver with Genstar.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member of Patriotic Club, Owls Club and A.P.A. Pool League, all of Frederick.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Brenda K. Owens and Lisa L. Dixon, both of Frederick; three brothers, George N. Frye of Hagerstown, R. Kevin Frye of Ijamsville, Md., and Michael C. Frye of Frederick; aunts; uncles; cousins; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Elizabeth Frye.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Mike Davidson will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lucille Palmer


Lucille Palmer, 78, of 123 Plantation Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center.

Born March 2, 1922, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Essie Huff Feigley. She was raised by the late Annie and Herbert Cullison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Fenton Palmer, in 1996.

She was previously employed by Sears Roebuck and Co., E. J. Fennel, and Londontown Manufacturing Co. of Boonsboro.

She was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, where she served as organist and secretary.
