You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"I want to thank the gentleman who came over to my driveway on Saturday morning as I was cleaning up from the storm. He told me how nice my yard looked and what a good job I was doing. He really made my day, since I lost my husband several months ago. It really proves that there are good people around."

"To the people who always call in and always complain about something, I just wanted to let you know that nothing or nobody will ever change these things. Think about it."

"I am trying to locate descendants of Mr. O.J. Stottlemeyer. In 1946, he lived at 237 Mealey Parkway in Hagerstown. My number is 301-824-5390. If anyone knows of a descendant of his, please contact me."

"I was surprised when the person who said that they liked the idea of an Arts and Entertainment Center in Hagerstown and that Hagerstown was no longer known for drugs. I had to laugh. If anyone who saw the drug convictions in the paper the other day, they would know that the drug problem is far from over in Hagerstown. What was interesting was that only 15 percent of the people got jail time and that 15 percent was probably the drug dealers. I couldn't believe the huge amount of names that were in there for possession. Our law enforcement and so forth has it all wrong. Obviously there is an extreme demand for drugs and as long as there is a demand, there are going to be people that are going to sell it for a fast buck. I don't believe that the drug problem will ever be solved. It is not any better than it was two years ago."

"Does anyone know how you go about getting a handicapped pass for a car? This is for an 85-year-old lady whose back is deteriorating. Do you go to the DMV to get the paperwork and then go to the doctor or do you go to the doctor first?"

"I think my flowers got mixed up. I wake up on Father's Day and my Easter lilies are blooming. The first time it has ever bloomed. Very pretty."

"All students are important on graduation day. Why are the North and South High schools the only ones who get their pictures in the paper, not only one day, but two days? Boonsboro, Clear Spring, Hancock and Williamsport only get their names printed and how many graduated. The smaller schools and students are just as important as the big schools. Every school should get their picture in the paper and the recognition. Not just the big schools. Think about this somebody, please."

"You are welcome to the Hagerstown First Brethren Church at the corner of East Washington Street and Mulberry Street. Our Sunday School is from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., our worship service is from 10:30 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. We welcome you to fellowship with us."

"I think Tiger Woods is the best golf player in the world and will be for years to come. He is only going to get better. Are there any other golf fans out there who think the way I do about the TV commentators? They only talk about him all the time."

"How old do you have to be so you don't have to pay income taxes anymore?"

"The Boonsboro High School band is sponsoring a yard sale on Thursday, June 29, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, June 30, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, July 1, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Boonsboro High School Cafeteria. There will also be a bake sale. Please come and support the Boonsboro High School band."

"To the lady in Clear Spring with the bats. When the bats leave in the evening, have someone go up and cover up the holes. That way they cannot get back into your attic. Try this and let Mail Call know how it works."

"Someone accidentally took the wrong camera home from the Clear Spring High School graduation last Thursday night. I would appreciate it if you would return it to the school or call me at 301-790-2392."

"To all women drivers, yes, you may turn right on a red traffic signal. However, you are required by law to stop before you make that right turn."

"I would like to thank all the people on the fourth floor, the third floor and the seventh floor at Washington County Hospital for making my two weeks there very comfortable. There is a great staff there and they need to be recognized for their patience and caring ways."

"Lost - brown purse at Martin's parking lot on Dual Highway, Sunday, June 18, around 4 p.m. Has family rings in it. Reward for return, no questions asked. Call 304-263-2515."
