Sharpsburg serious about bike ban, mayor says

June 12, 2000

SHARPSBURG - The Sharpsburg Town Council takes seriously its ordinance against bicycle riding on town sidewalks, Mayor George Kesler said Monday night.

A deputy from the Washington County Sheriff's Department last week confiscated the bicycle of a child who refused to obey the rule even after repeated verbal warnings, Kesler said.

It costs $15 to retrieve a seized bicycle from Town Hall, and adults must accompany children, he said.
