June 11, 2000

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - A Fayetteville man was killed Saturday evening when his motorcycle collided head-on with a car on Mount Cydonia Road in Greene Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:33 p.m. accident was William John Swartz, 41, of 648 Pine Mountain Drive, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner. The preliminary cause of death was multiple trauma, Conner said.

Police said Swartz was riding a 1998 Ultra motocycle south when he crossed the center line and struck a Pontiac Sunbird driven by Mary Jane Hunt, 27, of Fayetteville. Hunt and her passenger, Scott Allen Hunt, 33, were unhurt, police said.

The report said that after the initial collision, another motorcyclist, Franklin Dela Maring Jr., 41, of Fayetteville, collided with Swartz's motorcycle. Trooper Michael Dick said Maring was riding a 1980 Harley Davidson with Swartz.
