Man dies when car hits tree

MARTINSBURG, W.VA. - A Bunker Hill, W.Va., man was killed Saturday night when his car hit a tree, according to West Virginia State Police.

Roger Lee Bowers, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on W.Va. 45 across from the Glenwood Forest West subdivision, state police said.

Bowers was driving a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix west at 7:20 p.m. when the car ran off the north edge of the road, hit a guardrail and continued sideways until the passenger side hit the tree, police said.

The car was wrapped around the tree, police said.
