Clifton H. Grove

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. - Clifton Harry Grove, 77, of Bridgeville, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000.

Born Jan. 19, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harry and Ada Grove.

He was a member of Seaford Pipefitters and Welders Union 782.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth O. Grove; a stepdaughter, Norma Jean Wells of Greenville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private.

Visitation was Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at Fleischauer Funeral Home in Greenwood, Del.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bridgeville Senior Center, Bridgeville, DE 19933.


Evelyn F. White

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Evelyn F. White, 70, of Bunker Hill, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Feb. 19, 1930, in Wise, Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Hattie Stalle Hall.

She was a member of Mountainside Tabernacle Church in Martinsburg, W.Va.

She is survived by her husband, John B. White; two sisters, Naomi Brawner of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Mary Burton of Crisfield, Md.; and one brother, Walter Hall Jr. of Brooksville, Fla.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Athelene Green; and two brothers, Charles Hall and Freddie Wayne Hall.

Services will be Saturday at noon at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Revs. David Dupont and Betty Dupont will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Middleway, W.Va.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cathy M. Barnhart

HUSTONTOWN, Pa. - Cathy M. Barnhart, 43, of Hustontown, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

Born Oct. 11, 1956, in McConnellsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Alice Reihart of Greencastle, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Barnhart, in 1998. They were married Feb. 23, 1974.

She was employed by JLG Industries in McConnellsburg.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Stouffer and Cathy Jo Barnhart, both of Chambersburg, Pa. and Junell Barnhart of Waynesboro, Pa.; sisters and brothers, Robert Reihart of Belleville, Pa., Betty Lane, Bill Reihart and Mary Miller, all of Chambersburg, Dean Reihart of St. Thomas, Pa., and Richard Reihart and Patty Heinbaugh, both of Greencastle; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Reihart.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at M. R. Brown Funeral Home in Hustontown, Pa. Pastor Daryl Elliott will officiate. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery in Harrisonville.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Della P. Massey

SALISBURY, Md. - Della Powell Massey, 80, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown.

Born Feb. 20, 1920, in Powellville, Md., she was the daughter of the late John R. and Mary W. Brittingham Powell.

She and her husband owned and operated Strabane Manor produce and poultry farm in Willards, Md., for 50 years.

She attended Christ United Methodist Church in Salisbury, and Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Willards.

She was a member of Happy Timers; and AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edwin Joseph Massey; a son, L. Bruce Massey of Hagerstown; three brothers, John R. Powell Jr. of Fruitland, Md., Billy Powell of Pittsville, Md. and Brownie Powell of Salisbury; nieces; nephews; great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lemuel P. Dryden and Polly P. Burton; and two brothers, W. Wilson Powell and Elton A. Powell.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home, East Main Street in Salisbury. The Rev. Thomas W. Hurley will officiate. Burial will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Knud J. Helsing

WILLIAMSPORT - Dr. Knud Jensen Helsing, 88, of 16505 Virginia Ave. in Williamsport, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at his home.

Born May 1, 1912, in Center Junction, Iowa, he was the son of the late Oswald and Anna Christensen Helsing.

He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Antioch College in 1939; and a Sc.D. degree in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University in 1980.

He was employed by Westinghouse Corp., where his work resulted in numerous patents. He was director of engineering at Victor Products. He was employed most recently by Washington County Johns Hopkins Research Center, where, since 1970, he directed studies such as Clue I and II, among others. He taught epidemiology classes at Johns Hopkins University, and mentored graduate students. He retired in 1986. He was author or co-author of professional journal articles.
