Fire and Rescue Association will elect officers

The Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association will hold elections for officers during its June 16 meeting, according to Bob Cumberland, the association's administrative planner.

Jay Grimes, who was the association's president for four years, has said he would not seek re-election.

Clinton Stouffer, former 1st vice president and Jason Bare of the Maugansville-Goodwill Fire Department are vying for the top seat.

Tom Altman of Clear Spring Fire Department is running unopposed for 1st vice president. Brigitte Heller of Fairplay Fire Department will face Skip Mensizes of the Clear Spring Fire Department for 2nd vice president.

Running unopposed are the association's incumbent officers, Secretary Barb Keister of Smithsburg Fire Department, Treasurer Charlie Shindle and Chaplain Leonard Horst, both of the Maugansville-Goodwill Fire Department.

Rick Hemphill of the Long Meadow Fire Department will run for the newly created position of assistant treasurer.
