State drug task force holding hearings

May 22, 2000

In an effort to increase the availability and effectiveness of drug treatment and prevention services in Maryland, a public hearing will be held Thursday, May 25, in Hagerstown.

The hearing, the second of four such hearings around the state, will be held at Hagerstown Community College in the Kepler Theater from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Maryland Del. Dan Morhaim are joining with the Maryland Drug Treatment Task Force in an effort to strengthen Maryland communities in their fights against drug abuse.

Those wishing to testify may call 1-301-670-1214 or e-mail to drugtaskforce@dhmh.state.md.us.

The requests are first-come, first-served. Each speaker will be limited to two minutes and their comments should focus on treatment availability, improvement of prevention efforts, reducing stigma or addressing work-force issues.
