Fatal Pa. accident May 19 2000

STATE LINE, Pa. - A Waynesboro, Pa., man was pronounced dead Friday after his car veered off State Route 81 near here and struck a fence and metal post, Pennsylvania State Police reported.

Police said John F. Bucklew, 61, of 101 Tritle Ave. in Waynesboro, was driving south along State Route 81 about 0.1 miles north of State Line about 11:40 a.m. Friday. For an unknown reason the car, a 1989 Geo Metro, went off the road, ran over a chain link fence at the highway boundary and continued along a grass shoulder of South Young Road, which parallels route 81.

The left front bumper of the car then struck a metal billboard post. The car spun around and the rear of the car struck a metal billboard post from the same sign.

Bucklew was taken to Washington County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police reported.
