Organizations in four Washington County schools will receive interest-free loans from the Board of Education worth $44,000, the school board decided Tuesday night at its business meeting.
Hickory Elementary School PTA will receive $15,000 for new playground equipment. The group is to pay back $3,000 a year for five years through fundraisers.
Williamsport High School SophistiCats Show Choir Boosters will receive $10,000 to purchase new sound equipment and costumes. The loan is to be paid back over a five-year period at $2,000 a year through fund-raisers and ticket sales.
The Athletic Boosters at Williamsport High School will receive $15,000 to construct a restroom and concession stand facility. The club will pay make $3,000 a year payments over five years to pay off the loan.
