Bruce Kunkleman Jr.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Bruce "Dick" Kunkleman Jr., 74, of 722 Brenton St., died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Menno Haven, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Oct. 15, 1925, in Cleversburg area of Southampton Township, Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Bruce and Dessie E. Russell Kunkleman.

He was a 1943 graduate of Shippensburg High School.

He was the owner of Shippen Cleaners, which he founded in 1954. He and his son, Richard, were partners in Vapor Jet Professional Cleaning Services which started in 1972, and Family Laundry, which was started in 1988.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a member of Cleversburg United Methodist Church.

He was a member of North America Hunting Club, Hub City Club, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223 and Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168. Earlier in his life he was a baseball player in the Shippensburg and South Central Pennsylvania area.

He was a member of International Fabricare Institute and received the Wood McLaren Award from TriState Carpet Cleaners Association for outstanding contributions to the carpet and restoration industry.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bernita M. "Bee" Ordway Kunkleman; three daughters, Pamela Negley and Stephanie A. Coldsmith, both of Shippensburg, and Kathy L. Keller of Newberg, Pa.; two sons, Richard B. Kunkleman and Jeffrey B. Kunkleman, both of Shippensburg; two sisters, Virginia Long and Sally Cramer, both of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Gayman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg. Dr. Francis H. Norton and the Revs. Gregory A. Rapp and Paul L. Tatum will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Green Township.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.

Graveside military services will be conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts.

Robert B. Crone

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Robert Bowlus Crone, 83, of 6806 Burkittsville Road, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.

Born Feb. 2, 1917, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Samuel Grove and Annie S. Bowlus Crone.

His wife, Evelyn Sigler Crone, died Jan. 7, 2000.

He was a farmer and retired as a school bus driver with Frederick County Board of Education.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.

He is survived by two sisters, Fannie Babington of Walkersville, Md., and A. Marie Sigler of Middletown; a brother, Samuel Crone of Burkittsville; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Thomas and Rebecca Belle Hendricks and two brothers, Stanley Crone and John Crone.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Locust Valley Bible Church, 1323 Marker Road, Middletown. The Rev. Curvin D. Stambaugh will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 32 E. Main St., Middletown, and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. The funeral home will be open today from noon to 9 p.m.

Arabelle K. Smith

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Arabelle K. Guyer Smith, 90, a resident of Piney Mountain Nursing Home, and formerly of 343 Cherry Tree Circle, Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at the nursing home.

Born March 23, 1910, in Fort Loudon, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Elizabeth Yeager Kahn.

Her first husband, Charles L. Guyer died Aug. 29, 1955. Her second husband, George H. Smith, died Dec. 2, 1979.

She was employed at the former Stanley Company, Chambersburg, Pa., as a press operator for 27 years.

She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church United Church of Christ, Hagerstown.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother. She was the last of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Pa. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.

Viewing will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
