May 13, 2000

BOONSBORO - A 19-year-old Boonsboro woman died early Saturday morning of injuries received when she apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a concrete culvert on Md. 67, Maryland State Police reported.

Jody Lynn Miller of 619 N. Main St., was southbound in her 1995 Pontiac Sunfire at 4:09 a.m. when she crossed into the northbound lane at Reno Monument Road, went down an embankment and hit the culvert.

Miller was alone in her car, Trooper First Class Kyle George said.

Richard Bowman, administrator of Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village, said Jody Miller's mother and aunt are both on staff at the facility on Md. 66 near Boonsboro.

"By 9 or 10 Saturday morning, I had gotten a call from the director of nursing about this tragedy," Bowman said. "Already Chaplain Louis Emerick had met with the family and the staff to comfort them."

Bowman also said a fund has been established to help the family through the crisis.
