Visitors Center opens with ceremony

A grand opening ceremony at the Hagerstown/Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau's visitors center was held Thursday.

The new center, at 6 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown, is designed to serve business and vacation travelers as well as local residents.

Visitors will be able to make dinner and hotel reservations from a pre-programmed phone connected to local hotels and restaurants.

State and local maps and brochures with information on area attractions are available at the center.

Visitors will also be able to check their e-mail messages from the center's computer station and make a selection from assorted souvenirs for sale.

The center has information on Maryland and the area.
