You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"I am calling about the weather in the paper. Why do we keep running Keyser's Ridge when it is not available? There is such a big gap in the weather from Clear Spring to Cumberland, Md. It seems to me that they could run Hancock or Warfordsburg, Pa. That way we could cover all the towns between Boonsboro, Baltimore to the Cumberland area. Keyser's Ridge just isn't available and it would be nice for everyone if they could see the weather for the Hancock, Warfordsburg area or perhaps Berkeley Springs, W.Va."

"To County Commissioner Swartz, thank you for at least trying to help senior citizens on property tax. To the other four commissioners, you will be a senior citizen sooner than you think. I hope your pension will stretch to the limit."

"I have a comment for Sherry Owen, one of your carriers. She is the most efficient, the most kind and the most thoughtful one we have had in a long time. I really appreciate her. You need more like her."

"I am new in planting a garden and I was wondering, when is the best time to put tomato plants out?"

"I was reading about the lady who suggested about putting Wal-Mart downtown. What a good suggestion that is. That would not only help the senior citizens, but it would boost the downtown area to have a quality store in the downtown area. I hope that the council members consider this very seriously. This is such a great idea."

"I graduated from high school in 1961 and back then, just about every boy carried a penknife with him. Now all at once it seems like penknives are making the kids killers. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The reason the kids are killers is that some of you parents want to have these kids, but you don't want to take any time with them or show them any love. You just give them money and get rid of them and that is it. The answer to the killings in school is to show your kids love and that will get everything straightened out."

"We want to wish Devon Gay a happy 15th birthday. He lives on Miller Sawmill Road in Sharpsburg. From Grandmother Doris and Willie."

"The County Commissioners are spending $25,000 on a study to find out how bad our debt is?"

"The County Commissioners should have bought $25,000 worth of Big Game tickets instead of doing that study."

"I read in the paper the other day that County Commissioner Swartz is the only commissioner that wants to give a tax break to the senior citizens. Thanks for caring, Commissioner Swartz."

"We need help. Does anyone out there have the address for the EPA? We are afraid that our town water supply is in danger. Please call in and give us the address so we can write to them and they can check this out."

"I agree with the caller about the cable company not providing the Fox News station. I understand that their ratings are higher than any of the other major networks. But for some reason or another, this cable company here won't provide it. I wish they would reconsider and let us have it."
