May 01, 2000

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Youth ages 9 and older are invited to learn how poetry, music and cadences are related and what rhythm and repetition have to do with marching in a "Just 4 Kids" Sound Off program Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial. The memorial is at the gateway to Arlington National Cemetery. It is accessible by Metro - Blue Line, Arlington National Cemetery. Paid parking is available.

Staff members and volunteers will sing, march and rhyme their way around the memorial to teach motivation, rhythm, repetition, consistency and teamwork through poetry, music, cadence and marching. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes for indoor and outdoor activities.

Sound Off is one in a series of two-hour educational "Just 4 Kids" programs hosted by Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation. The programs are designed to teach the responsibilities of citizenship, American history, patriotism and women's heritage of service.
