Ada M. Elbin

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ada Marie Elbin, 98, of Manor Care, formerly of Artemas, Pa., died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Oct. 7, 1901, in Artemas, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Elizabeth Ann Mountain Collins.

Her husband, H. Howard Elbin, whom she married Oct. 16, 1920, died Aug. 18, 1970.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Lebanon Christian Church in Artemas.

She was a member of Chaneysville Senior Citizens before moving to Chambersburg three years ago.

She is survived by a daughter, Thelma Monn of Chambersburg; a son, Thurman Blair Elbin of State College, Pa.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin Roscoe Elbin and Marvin Leo Elbin; two brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Fairview United Church of Christ. The Rev. John Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, Pa., and Monday at the church one hour prior to services.

 

Anne H. Minnich

Anne Huyett Minnich, 81, of 411 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at her home.

Born July 28, 1918, in Blanchester, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Norma Fagel Huyett.

She attended the College of William and Mary and Maryland Institute of Art.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild.

She was a member of the Women's Club.

She is survived by her husband, Frank L. Minnich; a daughter, Claire Mumma of Hagerstown; a son, Scott M. Minnich of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert F. Huyett.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert C. Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

 

Clarence R. Miller

FUNKSTOWN - Clarence R. Miller, 93, of 102 N. Antietam St., died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born July 20, 1906, in Falling Waters, W.Va., he was the son of the late John E. and Annie C. Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Zimmerman Miller.

He was a 1924 graduate of Martinsburg High School in Martinsburg, W.Va.

He retired from U.S. Post Office in Martinsburg with more than 30 years of service.

He was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Martinsburg.

He is survived by a daughter, Joyce A. Roberts of Funkstown; and two granddaughters, Deborah Burkhart Placino of Martinsburg and Kathe Burkhart Van Wissem of New York and Amsterdam, Netherlands.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Kettering and Grace M. Knipe, and a brother, John Miller.

There will be no services or viewing. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

 

Donald W. Ishler

Donald William Ishler, 68, of 500 Guilford Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Moffitt Cancer Clinic in Tampa, Fla.

Born June 13, 1931, in Halfmoon Township, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Bessie Eves Ishler.

He was a 1948 graduate of State College High School and a 1959 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in agriculture.

He was a supervisor for the Farm and Home Administration.

He was of the United Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Twila Harshberger Ishler, whom he married March 26, 1954; a daughter, Vicki C. Matthews of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; two sons, Vincent C. Ishler of Mercersburg, Pa., and Vance C. Ishler of Frostburg, Md.; three sisters, Janet Gordon of Pleasant Gap, Sally Myer of Bowie, Md., and Cindy Harter of Pleasant Gap; six brothers, Richard Ishler of Columbia, S.C., Tom Ishler, Phillip Ishler and David Ishler, all of Bellefonte, John Ishler of Spring Mills, Pa., and Wendell Ishler of State College, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services will be held Friday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Wetzler Funeral Home in Bellefonte. The Rev. David A. Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Meyer Cemetery in Benner Township, Pa.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, May 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.

 

E. Lucille Beers

KEYMAR, Md. - Edna Lucille Beers, 84, of 11404 Renner Road and formerly of Hagerstown, New York and Kasilof, Ala., died Thursday, April 27, 2000.

Born in Elizabethtown, N.Y., she was the daughter of Perry and Lillian Cole.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Beers.

She was a commissioned pen-and-ink artist in the Tri-State area.
