Local Roundup - Frostburg names new head football coach

Frostburg State University named Rubin Stevenson its new head football coach on Tuesday.

Stevenson replaces Ed Sweeney, who resigned in January.

Stevenson was the defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator from 1992 through last season.

FSU was 8-3 last season and won the Atlantic Central Football Conference title with a 5-1 mark in conference play.


Navy 13, Mount 5

EMMITSBURG, Md. -Mount St. Mary's seven-game win streak came to an end as 10th-ranked Navy defeated the Mountaineers.

Navy's Eddie McKinnon led the charge in muddy conditions with three goals and three assists, while Bryan Cole tallied two goals for the Mount.


Mount St. Mary's (7-6) took its only lead of the game one minute into the first quarter as Cole scored on a feed from Matt Downs.

Navy (8-3) responded 51 seconds later with a goal by Mike Sheedy. The Midshipmen scored one more time in the period and never trailed in the game the rest of the way.
