April 10, 2000

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A second person involved in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on rain-slickened U.S. 340 has died.

Gregory Prichard, 21, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., died at 8:53 a.m. Sunday at Winchester Medical Center in Virginia, according to West Virginia State Police Senior Trooper A.M. Zaltzman.

Prichard was driving a 1999 Dodge Dakota northbound when he lost control at about 3:46 p.m. on the slippery road and struck a southbound 1989 Lincoln sedan head-on, according to police.

Michael Scott Bartlett, 32, the driver of the sedan, was killed in the crash.

Paul Prichard, 12, a passenger in Gregory Prichard's truck, remains at Inova Fairfax (Va.) Hospital. The hospital did not return a call late Sunday, but Zaltzman said in the afternoon that Paul Prichard's condition was stable.

Zaltzman said Paul Prichard was related to Gregory Prichard, but he wasn't sure how.
