Roundup-North gets first lacrosse win

North Hagerstown exploded for the first-ever varsity win in the program's history, getting four goals and an assist from Luke Mongrain and a rare goal from defenseman Matt Strine to defeat Randallstown 15-2 Tuesday afternoon.

Chris Michael had two goals and two assists, and Tommy Hardinge and Jacob Feight had two goals each for the Hubs (1-3). John Prather added eight saves for North.

Smithsburg 9, South 7: Christine Best had four goals, Emily Swain added two goals and Laura Spessard, Sara Sanders and Amanda Tedrick all scored once for the Leopards. Steph Schrader had two goals to lead the Rebels.

Grace 11, CVCS 5

Jason Kendall, Mark Koontz and Josh Barnhart homered and Nathan Sweeney gave allowed one hit in four innings of relief as Grace Academy beat Cumberland Valley Christian at Hagerstown Colt League.

Kendall, Koontz and Barnhart each had two hits for the Trojans (3-0).

LEESBURG, Va. - Craig Smith had two hits, three RBI and eight strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings of relief as the No. 5 Cougars won on the road Monday night.

Smith got his first win of the year for Jefferson (5-0), which won thanks to a combined 12 runners on walks and hit batsmen by Loudoun County. Jefferson leadoff hitter John Green reached four times after walking twice and being hit twice.
