Anniversaries for April 1

Herman and Dorothy Kretzer Jones were honored at a catered dinner Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at First Hose Co. of Boonsboro in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The celebration was hosted by their sons and daughter-in-law, James and Carolyn Jones and Terry Jones; grandchildren and spouses, Dennis and Becky Nalley, James and Christy Jones; great-grandchildren, Travis Nalley and Amber Nalley; and a friend, Tina Parrish.

More than 100 relatives and friends attended. Entertainment was provided by Last Generation gospel group who sang many of the Jones' favorite songs and the love song, "Who Would Have Dreamed, I Did."

The Joneses were married Oct. 8, 1949, by the Rev. William Herpich at his home in Appletown, Md.

Mrs. Jones worked at Londontown Manufacturing Co. in Boonsboro from 1965 to 1974. She has been a homemaker since then.

Mr. Jones was a farmer on his family's produce farm until 1955, then worked for Bester and Long Construction Co. From 1976 until his retirement in 1992, he worked as a custodian at Boonsboro Elementary School.

They have lived near Boonsboro all their married life, first on the family farm, then in the home they built.




Mr. and Mrs. J. Lewis Eyerly of Hagerstown celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000. The occasion was celebrated with family members at the home of John and Nancy Staley.

The Rev. Ira W. Shindle married the Eyerlys Jan. 12, 1935, at the former Howard Street Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

They have two daughters, Nancy Carmen Staley of Hagerstown and Susan Elizabeth Durbin of Hampton, Va.; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons.

They both are retired and live at Woodcrest Village in Hagerstown.
