CLEAR SPRING - Ricky Myers and Josh Keyton both had two-run homers, and Regis Line had a two-run single to cap a three-run fifth as the Blazers held on to beat Berkeley Springs 9-6 on Wednesday afternoon for their first win of the year.

Myers finished with three hits and Keyton and Line both had two for Clear Spring (1-1), which handed the Indians (2-1) their first loss. Tied at 3-3 entering the bottom of the fifth, Keyton led off with a walk, and singles by Barry Smoot and Gerad Haupt loaded the bases. Chris Everitts drove in one with a single before Line's single gave the Blazers a three-run cushion.

Josh Carter had three hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs as No. 8 St. Maria Goretti (2-1) defeated Musselman.

Chad Brashears got the Gaels (2-1) out of a jam in the third inning and then pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win. He also drove in three runs. Derrick Herman, Kabby Everly and Joe Widmyer each homered for Goretti.

HANCOCK - Justin Sleeman pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts as Northern Garrett blanked Hancock.

Danny Keefer and Mark Hoffman had the only two hits for the Panthers (0-3). Adam Brennemann had three hits and three RBI for Northern Garrett (2-2) while Mark Wolfe added three hits and two RBI.

SMITHSBURG - Lindsay White pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and Katie Williams hit a solo home run in the seventh to lead No. 5 Walkersville over Smithsburg in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League.

Sarah Ramsburg had two triples for the Lions (2-0, 2-0). Katy Powell had the lone hit for the Leopards (1-1, 1-1).

Emily Middlekauff led off the bottom of the first inning with a homer and Alison Higgs held Brunswick to one hit in South Hagerstown's victory in the MVAL.

Higgs struck out 10 and did not allow a walk in picking up her first win of the season for the Rebels.

Amanda Chapman struck out 11 batters in a five-inning one-hitter for the Cadets (2-0), while Candy Warden also homered for Frederick.

COVE, Pa. - Winning pitcher Becky Porter tripled to drive in the tying run, then scored the game-winning run in a three-run second inning as the No. 4 Rockets stayed perfect on the season.

Sammy Brown went 3-for-5 and Jenna Swailes had two hits for JB (3-0). With one out in the second, Chrissy Witmer singled and moved to second on a fielder's choice before Porter's triple tied the game. Porter scored when Brown reached on an error. Brown then stole second and Swailes drove her in to complete the frame.

BEDFORD, Pa. - Michelle Golden went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple and allowed just one earned run, but the No. 8 Indians gave up three runs on two errors in the fourth to lose on the road.
