E. Virginia Skilton

DRY RUN, Pa. - E. Virginia Skilton, 80, of 19655 Sweetwater Road, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, Dry Run, Pa.

Elvin W. Flook

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Elvin Wilmer Flook, 86, of 129 Coquina Sans Drive, and formerly of 7902 Myersville Road, Middletown, Md., died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at his home.

Born July 22, 1913, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Philip Edward and Elizabeth Remsberg Flook.

He was a retired bricklayer.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Kline Flook, of Menno Haven Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.; a son, E. Wilmer Flook Jr. of Waynesboro; a brother, Marshall V. Flook of Frederick, Md.; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Flook Wiles and Grace E. Bidle; four brothers, Hiram S.R. Flook, Ernest Flook, Arthur Flook and Grayson Flook.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

There will be a viewing at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund, Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 306, Middletown, MD 21769.

Arrangements are made by Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.

Eleanor J. Markle

BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Eleanor Juanita Markle, 71, of Potomac Terrace Apartments, died Monday, March 20, 2000, at her sister's home in Ranson, W.Va.

Born Sept. 17, 1928, in Bolivar, she was the daughter of the late Henry H. and Mabel Gray Ballenger.

She retired from Badger-Powhatan, Ranson.

She was a member of Shenandoah Memorial United Methodist Church, Millerville, W.Va., United Methodist Women, and was chairwoman of the administrative board.

She was a member of AARP; and a member and former secretary of Marine and Ship Builders Workers of America, Baltimore.

She is survived by two sisters, Mildred M. Lanham of Ranson and Aleida M. Haines of Brownsville, Md.; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. James K. Hamrick will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery, Bolivar.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret T. Williams

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Margaret Tangeman Williams, 74, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born April 16, 1925, in Mount Clare, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Louis B. and Jennie Rogers Tangeman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Williams.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Martinsburg.

She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge in Ravenwood, W.Va.

She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer L. Hedges of Martinsburg and Jeanette L. Stup of Inwood, W.Va.; two brothers, Louis T. Tangeman of Lodi, Calif., and George E. Tangeman of Clarksburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Olive Elaine Benninger; and two brothers, Victor E. Tangeman and Ervin E. Tangeman.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Mike Staubs will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lester A. Smith

FARMVILLE, Va. - Lester Allen Smith, 63, of Route 1, died Monday, March 20, 2000, at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

Born Nov. 3, 1936, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Albert Henry and Evelyn Lucille Imes Smith.

He retired from the U.S. Navy and was a retired lieutenant in the sheriff's department in Norfolk, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Parsons Smith; three daughters, Wendy Anne Smith of Richmond, Susan Looper of North Carolina and Cynthia Piercy of Dillwyn, Va.; three sons, Stuart Smith of Richmond, Albert Allan Smith of Pamplin, Va., and Lawrence Smith of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Darlene J. Smith of Hagerstown; 12 grandchildren; one niece; and one great-nephew.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
