Richard C. Shepley

MT. MORRIS, Pa. - Richard Clarence Shepley, 63, of Route 1, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Nov. 17, 1936, in Myersville, Md., he was the son of Catherine Rice of Jefferson, Md., and the late Jake Shepley.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Twila Shepley.

He was owner and operator of Shepley Home Improvements.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his first wife, Wanda Slifer of Brunswick, Md.; a son, Richard C. Shepley Jr. of Smithsburg; a brother, Kenneth Rice of Jefferson; two granddaughters; a niece and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ed Wade will officiate. Burial will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mount Morris.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Merrill W. Seville

MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Merrill W. Seville, 84, of 300 E. North St., and a resident of Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Unit, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born Nov. 13, 1916, in Cito, Pa., he was the son of the late Harvey W. and Rhoda Clevenger Seville and was raised by the late Lynn and Elizabeth Alexander since the age of 4 months.

He was employed for the Borough of McConnellsburg as chief of police for 31 years.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Cito United Methodist Church.

He was a member of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company; Mercersburg Sportsman's Association; Fulton County Sportsman's Association; Fraternal Order of Police; Rocky Mountain Hunting Club and The Odd Fellows.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Keefer Seville; three daughters, Daisy Burrall and Carol Moats, both of McConnellsburg and Linda Dickons of Ark, Va.; five sons, Merrill D. Seville and Roy R. Seville, both of McConnellsburg, Harvey W. Seville of Fort Littleton, Pa., Mark C. Seville of Chambersburg, Pa., and Lynn W. Seville of St. Thomas, Pa.; a sister, Ruth Traux of Hustontown, Pa.; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, Pa. The Rev. Sam Stoey will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Ridge Christian Church Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Fulton County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. 2nd St., McConnellsburg, which will be open from 2 to 9 p.m.

Richard M. Morganthall Jr.

BRADENTON, Fla. - Richard McClellen Morganthall Jr., 72, of 4798 Independence Drive, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at his home.

Born Jan. 29, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Richard Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Morganthall.

His first wife, Marion E. Morganthall, died in 1994.

He was employed with General Acceptance Corp., Allentown, Pa., for 25 years, and then at Montgomery Tire in Bethesda, Md.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.

He was a member of B.P.O. Elks 378 and American Legion. Morris Frock Post 42.

He is survived by his second wife, Belva Jean Morganthall; two daughters, Donna L. Resh of Allentown, Pa., and Denise Morganthall-Malaska of Slatington, Pa. and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Patrick Pierce will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Samuel J. Wandless Sr.

FLINTSTONE, Md. -Samuel Jrman Wandless Sr., 60, of Route 2, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.

Born July 13, 1939, in Staunton, Va., he was the son of the late Fred Wandless and Anna Mae Kale Wandless Hull.

He retired in 1998 from The Woods Resort, Hedgesville, W.Va., as a groundskeeper.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Anna Lee Shoemaker Wandless; three daughters, Anna VanGosen and Teresa Hendershot, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Rita Lynn Poffenberger of Hancock; three sons, Samuel J. Wandless Jr. of Berkeley Springs, Arnold R. Wandless of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Freddie F. Wandless of Flintstone; a sister, Eileen McCullough of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a brother, Freddie L. Wandless of Hancock and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. Henry L. Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Mahnes Chapel Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
