Anniversary announcements for March 18

Welty and Genevieve Nicodemus of Boonsboro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000. They were honored at a luncheon hosted by the congregation of Battlefield Bible Church.

They were married Feb. 12, 1950, by the Rev. G.I. Rider.

Mrs. Nicodemus is the daughter of the late John and Emma Mose. She has been a homemaker most of her married life.

Mr. Nicodemus is the son of the late Welty and Mary Nicodemus Sr. He retired in 1989 from Pangborn Corp., where he worked for 40 years.




Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Cole of Williamsport celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at a party attended by family and friends, at Williamsport American Legion.

The Coles were married Feb. 23, 1950, by the Rev. Charles Mead at United Methodist Church in Williamsport.

Mrs. Cole is the former Gloria Byers, daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Byers.

Mr. Cole is the son of the late Bruce and Anna Mae Cole. He retired from General Motors in Martinsburg, W.Va.

The Coles have three daughters, Valorie, Vanessa and Veronica; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.




The Rev. and Mrs. William P. Heefner of Smithsburg were honored at a surprise 60th wedding anniversary party Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Four Points Hotel in Hagerstown.

The celebration was hosted by their son, William S. Heefner of Smithsburg and was attended by family and 100 friends. The Heefners were presented with gifts and a money tree.

After dinner, a three-tiered anniversary cake was served.

The Rev. and Mrs. Heefner were married March 2, 1940, at First Brethren Church in Waynesboro, Pa.

Mrs. Heefner is a homemaker.

The Rev. Heefner retired from Black Rock Bible Church.

They have three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
