Charles Y. Mace

Charles Yeakle Mace, 85, formerly of 17501 Gay St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the home of his grandson, James Scott Mace, at 5257 E. Roosevelt Blvd. in Philadelphia.

Born Sept. 30, 1914, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles Isaac and Mary Ellen Yeakle Mace.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine I. Mace, in 1995.

He was employed by Keebler Biscuit Co. and Colonial Biscuit Co. and he worked in maintenance with the Washington County Extension Office and the Washington County Court House.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of Christ Reformed Church.

He was affiliated with Children's Village for many years.

He was a member of Travelers Protective Association Post C and AARP.

He is survived by two sons, Larry K. Mace of Hagerstown and James P. Mace of Smithsburg; a sister, Betty Crunkleton of Hagerstown; a brother, James Mace of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lucille Stitzle.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, with military honors conducted by members of American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Anna J. Palmer

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anna Jane "Janie" Palmer, 72, of 50 Minnich Road, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at her home.

Born April 12, 1927, in Zullinger, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ezra G. and Lula Jane Eigenbrode Fitz Sr.

She was a 1945 graduate of the former Washington Township High School in Washington Township, Pa., and a 1947 graduate of the former Waynesboro Business College in Waynesboro, Pa.

She had worked as a cashier at the former Lincoln Loan Co. in Waynesboro and the former Beneficial Finance Company in Chambersburg. She was last employed at McBeth Corporation in Chambersburg.

She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg, where she was active in WELCA and various church committees.

She is survived by her husband, Robert M. Palmer, whom she married Sept. 22, 1951; two daughters, Nancy Ann Lawyer of Boiling Springs, Pa., and Lori Jane Palmer of Chambersburg; and a brother, Ezra G. Fitz Jr. of Zullinger, Pa.

A memorial service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington St. in Chambersburg. The Rev. Steven Dorsett will officiate.

Private burial will be held prior to the memorial service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

There will be no public viewing. However, the family will receive friends Monday at noon at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Robert E. Hullinger

Robert Edward Hullinger, 69, of 18539 Orchard Hills Parkway, Hagerstown, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 13, 1930, in Decatur, Ill., he was the son of the late John Edward and Mary Elizabeth Butts Hullinger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Jane Hullinger, in 1998.

He retired from Mack Trucks in 1990 after 30 years of service. Previously, he was employed by Borg Warner and General Electric Company.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and Mack Management Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Jamae Sue Boscardin of Lake Orion, Mich., and Samantha Frey of State College, Pa.; six sons, Steven Hullinger of Reston, Va., Gregory Hullinger of Titusville, Fla., Daniel Hullinger, Ronald Hullinger and Donald Hullinger, all of Hagerstown, and Kurt Scherlinsky of Camp Hill, Pa.; three sisters, Pearl Elizabeth Noble of Fountain Valley, Calif., Mary Elaine Paxton of Decatur, Ill., and Harriet Edith Daniels of Phoenix; three brothers, Jasper Edgar Hullinger of Oreana, Ill., Golden Ernest Hullinger of Bloomfield, Mich., and Gene Hullinger of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown. The Rev. Ted J. Plott will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mavis W. Steinke

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Mavis Wilhelmina Steinke, 59, of Harpers Ferry, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at her home.
