Donald M. Banks Sr.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Donald M. Banks Sr., 75, of 308 Linden Ave., died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born April 26, 1924, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Chester M. and Evelyn Robison Banks.

He had worked at area orchards and Mercersburg Tannery. From 1959 until his retirement in 1987, he was employed by the Borough of Mercersburg.

A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served in World War II.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mercersburg.

He was a member of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 and Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, both of Mercersburg, MMP & W Fire Co. of Mercersburg; and McConnellsburg Fire Co.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Nolf Banks, whom he married Nov. 22, 1968; a son, Donald M. Banks Jr. of Mercersburg; a sister, Gertrude Lear of Chambersburg; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Roy E. Brake Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Viewing will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

C.C. Walker Williams

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - C.C. Walker Williams, 90, of 410 S. Potomac St., died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born in Federalsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Rev. John Wesley and Agnes Katherina Walker Williams.

His wife, Helen Karper Williams, died Jan. 26, 1991. They were married Dec. 26, 1931.

He was a 1928 graduate of Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy and attended Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.

He was employed as an engineer by Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, from 1930 until retiring in 1971.

After retirement he studied art painting and received awards throughout Cumberland Valley. He painted until the age of 87.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro, taught 3-M Sunday School Class, was on the Consistory and the property committee, serving as chairman for a number of years.

He was a member of Waynesboro Studio Club, Eagles Club in Waynesboro and National AARP.

He is survived by a daughter, N. Jane Suydam of Waynesboro; and a son, C. Randall Williams of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 30 W. North St., Waynesboro. The Rev. James T. Williams will officiate.

The family will receive friends after the memorial services in the church.

There will be no public viewing.

Private graveside services will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Renfrew Museum, 1010 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268; or Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA; or Mercersburg Academy Arts Department, Mercersburg, PA 17236.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Beverly C. Grove

CLEAR SPRING - Beverly Clever Grove, 52, of 13338 Independence Road, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born Aug. 10, 1947 in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Herman and Margaret Fitz Clever.

She was a 1965 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, taught junior church and sang in the choir.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Gary Eugene Grove; a daughter, Donna M. Carbaugh of Clear Spring; four sons, Allen E. Grove, Anthony B. Grove and Jeremy S. Grove, all of Clear Spring, and Jonathan D. Grove of Hagerstown; a sister, Paula Grove of Clear Spring; four brothers, Carl Clever of Savage, Md., Dale Clever of Waynesboro, Terry Clever of Hagerstown and Jerry Clever of Chambersburg, Pa.; five granddaughters; and 16 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Harvest Baptist Church. The Rev. James E. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harvest Baptist Church, 951 Woodland Way, Hagerstown, MD 21740; or to Heritage Academy, 12215 Walnut Point West, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Elizabeth M. Stults

Elizabeth M. Stults, 88, of 18522 Orchard Hills Parkway, Hagerstown, and formerly of Cranbury, N.J., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 25, 1912, in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Claude J. and Genevie N. DeYoe Merchant.
