Sonny C. Gray

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Sonny Claye Gray, 21, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000.

Born April 25, 1978, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of Homer I. Gray and Faye Saville, both of Martinsburg.

He was a 1997 graduate of Martinsburg High School.

He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, W.L. Saville and Lucille Saville of Martinsburg; stepfather Keith Custer of Martinsburg; three sisters, Lisa Gray Kirby, Donna Gray and Sabrina Gray, all of Martinsburg; two brothers, David Gray and Ronnie Gray, both of Martinsburg; and aunts.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Homer and Mona Gray.

Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Shane Wilt will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by members of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW, Berkeley Post 14 American Legion and Amvets Post 38.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen R. Smith

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Mary Ellen Rosella Smith, 72, of Barnetts Run Road, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 15, 1927, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Harry N. and Bessie Middleton Norris.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Andrew Smith, in 1974.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hancock.

She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Wink of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Barbara Mills of Big Pool, Md., and Elizabeth Bowers of Warfordsburg; three sons, Andrew N. Smith of Herndon, Va., Joseph L. Smith of Hagerstown and McKinley R. Smith of Spring Hill, Fla.; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven sisters and seven brothers.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Resley Road in Hancock. The Rev. Timothy Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St. in Hancock and Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Monday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Susan I. Alger

RANSON, W.Va. - Susan Irene Hill Alger, 51, of Ranson, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.

Born April 1, 1948, in McComb, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Grayson William and Anna Lee Carlisle Hill.

She was an accessions librarian at Charles Town Library. She also was a homemaker.

She was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church.

She was a member of Moose Lodge 948.

She is survived by her husband, David Lee Alger; two daughters, Jennifer Gayle Butrick of Ranson and Gwendolyn Sue Butrick of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a son, Douglas Ray Butrick of Hagerstown; three sisters, Judith A. Slusher of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Nancy G. Weakland of Erie, Colo., and Debra Kaye Stottlemyer of Charles Town, W.Va.; two brothers, Gregory W. Hill of Martinsburg and Terry Hill of Ranson; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Lynn Penwell.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Charles Town Baptist Church in Charles Town. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson.

Michael S. Feltner

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Michael Scott Feltner, 5, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.

Born Oct. 15, 1994, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of John Duwel and Mary Jean Feltner of Martinsburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Deshawn Tyler Cook of Martinsburg; grandparents Amy Lynn Johnson of Hagerstown and Joseph R. Feltner Sr. of Florida; and great-grandmother Imogene Fowler of Martinsburg.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Douglas J. Hollida will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joseph S. Rowe

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Joseph S. Rowe, 87, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 9035 Gap Road, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the nursing home.

Born March 21, 1912, in Quincy Township, he was the son of the late John W. and Verna G. Robinson Rowe.
