City backs Olympic bid

February 10, 2000

Hagerstown's Mayor and City Council on Tuesday endorsed a resolution of support for the efforts of the Washington/Baltimore Regional 2012 Coalition to bring the 2012 Summer Olympic Games to the Maryland/District of Columbia/Virginia region.

City Administrator Bruce Zimmerman told the mayor and council that if the Olympics come to the area, the benefits could reach Hagerstown and Washington County. He said this area could be used for practice sites, and could provide accommodations for visiting teams and tourists.
