MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Falling Waters man was shot to death in a mobile home park along W.Va. 45 east of Martinsburg Wednesday night.

Police were investigating the death as a homicide, West Virginia State Police Sgt. George Bradshaw said early Thursday.

Benjamin Leo Lowery, 32, died after being shot in the chest, Bradshaw said.

Lowery was taken to City Hospital near Martinsburg, where he was pronounced dead around midnight, Bradshaw said.

Police had another man in custody at the state police barracks along Edwin Miller Boulevard, Bradshaw said.

He said the man had not been charged but had asked for an attorney, and one was being sought.

It is not clear what led to the shooting, which was reported to police about 9:45 p.m., Bradshaw said.

The shooting occurred in Austin's mobile home park, which is located along W.Va. 45 just before the highway crosses the Opequon Creek.

A trooper at the scene said he could not give any details of what happened.

A neighbor said she saw an ambulance leave the mobile home followed by someone being taken away in a police car.

Troopers could be seen inside the trailer, and a trooper came outside to take photographs of the home.
