Bank account set up for fire victims

February 07, 2000

A bank account has been set up at Home Federal Savings Bank for a second Hagerstown family of four displaced by a fire last week on George Street. Contributions to the Smith Fire Relief Fund can be made at any branch.

The Smiths also are seeking contributions of clothing, toys and furniture to replace items lost in the blaze. They also need a place to live.

The fire started in the house next door at 620-622 George St. and spread to 618 George St.

Those interested in helping the family can contact Deborah Smith at 301-739-1251.

Donations are also being taken for the Reilly family, who were displaced by the same fire.

Those interested in mailing donations may send them to the Reilly Fire Relief Fund at Home Federal Savings Bank, c/o Sareen Hebb, 126 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Donations of clothing, furniture and other items for the Reilly family may be directed to 531 Salem Ave., first floor.
