WV Scholars Academy

Application deadline is Saturday, April 1.

The Mountain Institute is accepting applications to the 2000 West Virginia Scholars Academy. The academy accepts outstanding West Virginia high school juniors with demonstrated leadership ability. The four-week program stresses writing skills, critical thinking and community leadership.

The Scholars Academy will be at Mountain Institute's Spruce Knob Mountain Center, a 400-acre woodland campus surrounded by Monongahela National Forest.

Students will write a reflective thesis for publication, tour the state, explore many natural areas and interview state leaders in government, history, science and the arts.

Students are accepted on merit. Fees are determined by a sliding scale.
