Dale C. Hedrick Jr.

ANNANDALE, Va. - Dale Clayton Hedrick Jr., 49, of Annandale, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at his home.

Born Dec. 13, 1950, in Fort Knox, Ky., he was the son of Irene Garner Hedrick of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and the late Dale Clayton Hedrick.

He was a 1968 graduate of Edison High School in Alexandria, Va., and attended North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, N.C.

A computer systems analyst, he worked as a freelance contractor.

He was a Protestant.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 10 years, Nenita Damasco Bernardo Hedrick; one brother, Richard Harold Hedrick of Knightdale, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Edith Lutzenhiser of Berkeley Springs; his stepfather, Charles E. Magoon of Berkeley Springs; one niece; one nephew; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Robert S. Osborne will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 9 a.m.

George E. Duvall

NEEDMORE, Pa. - George E. Duvall, 82, of 1794 Palmer Road, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born Monday, Feb. 26, 1917, in Akersville, Pa., he was the son of the late Lum and Pearl Mellott Duvall.

His wife, Pauline Kline Duvall, died in 1995.

He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for 31 years, and as a security guard at Fulton County Fair.

He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Brethren Church in Needmore.

He also was a member of Needmore and McConnellsburg fire companies; and a former member of Fulton County Sportsmans League.

He is survived by two sons, Russell Duvall of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Coy Duvall of Needmore; one half-brother, Donald Leese of Needmore; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Emil Mellott.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Sipes Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Pa. Pastor Belvy White will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Brethren Cemetery in Needmore.

Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 2 to 8 p.m.

Frank P. Souza

KNOXVILLE, Md. - Frank Philip Souza, 75, of 1705 Jefferson Pike, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.

Born Oct. 18, 1924, in Gardener, Mass., he was the son of the late John and Jenny Madruga Souza.

He was a retired owner of the Hitching Post in Petersville, Md. ; and had owned the 9th Avenue General Store in Brunswick, Md.

He retired from the U.S. Army in 1965 with the rank of first sergeant. He served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Souza; a sister, Flo Viera of Raleigh, Mass.; two brothers, Edward Souza and Albert Souza, both of Danvers, Mass.; and a niece.

He was preceded in death by a son, Philip Louis Souza.

Private burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, with prayers at 7 p.m. by the Rev. Robert Jaskot.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Elizabeth L. Knight

PORT SAINT LUCIE, Fla. Elizabeth Lee Knight, 70, of 3598 SW Conibear St., and formerly of Sharpsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at her home.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Church of God, Samples Manor, Md.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Church of God, Samples Manor, MD 21782; or to a charity of one's choice.

Carolyn D. Yost

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -Services for Carolyn D. Yost, 78, of Berkeley Springs, who died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, will be today at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Kelly Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Dorothy E. Shank

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Dorothy E. Shank, 66, of 2208 New Franklin Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Oct. 15, 1933, in Williamson, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Ida Shank.

She was the custodian at Stanley Co. in Chambersburg, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of Solomon's United Church of Christ.

She was a member of Ladies Aid Society.

She is survived by a daughter, Victoria Ann Cameron of Chambersburg; a son, Dennis E. Shank of Chambersburg; a foster sister, E. Louise Kauffman of Chambersburg; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
