Catherine C. Sowers

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Catherine Clipp Sowers, 93, of 486 Ott St., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000.

Born Aug. 27, 1906, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Helen Schamel Clipp.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Frederick Sowers, in 1988. They were married Feb. 1, 1930.

She attended Western Maryland William and Mary Extension College.

She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

She was a member of Colonial Garden Club.

She is survived by three sons, Dr. William F. Sowers of Staunton, Va., and John A. Sowers and James S. Sowers, both of Harrisonburg; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The Revs. John Glover and William Mengebier will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodbine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at her home, 486 Ott St..

Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 660 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Felicia H. Cogan

Visitation for Felicia H. Cogan, who died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, has been rescheduled for Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the parish room at Trinity Episcopal Church, German Street, Shepherdstown, W.Va.

Mary H. Peyton

Services for Mary H. Holly Anderson Peyton, who died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, have been rescheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.

Lillian M. Roberts

SHARPSBURG - Services for Lillian Mildred Munson Roberts, 90, of 2539 Chestnut Grove Road, who died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, have been rescheduled for today at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Alvin Craig will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery in Brownsville.

The family will receive friends today at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roy M. Poole

Roy Millard Poole, 79, of 1540 Iris Court, Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home.

Born May 30, 1920, in Middletown, Md., he was the son of the late Millard Guy and Ruth Irene Leiter Poole.

He retired from Jamison Door Co.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a life member of VFW Post 1936.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anna Ruth Poole; two sons, Wesley M. Poole of Hagerstown and John M. Poole of Alabama; a foster son, Fred H. Lewis of Hagerstown; a brother, Osmond L. Poole of Chambersburg, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Chloe N. Hamby

Services for Chloe Noel Hamby, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, have been rescheduled. They will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.

Dorothy L. Hess

Dorothy L. Hess, 92, formerly of 11 W. Baltimore St., who died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, is survived by a daughter, Norma Jean Hess Sayles of Hagerstown.

Gloria I. Doyle

DRY RUN, Pa. - Gloria I. Doyle, 53, of 19147 Sweetwater Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at her home.

Born June 11, 1946, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth S. and Edith Gamble Doyle.

She was a 1964 graduate of Fannett-Metal High School in Willow Hill, Pa. She graduated from Thompson Institute of Harrisburg, Pa., and Thompson College of York, Pa.

She had owned and operated Gold 'n' Gray Retirement Home, Dry Run, since 1984; and Abraham's Storage, Spring Run, Pa., since 1994.

She was a member of Upper Path Valley United Presbyterian Church in Spring Run.

A member of Fannett-Metal Fire and Ambulance Co. and its auxiliary, she had served as director, president and vice president of Fannett-Metal Fire Co. She was a former member of Franklin County Fair Board. She served on the Spring Run Cable Co. board of directors and as secretary of the Dry Run Water Association board of directors. She also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star First Court 470, Shippensburg, Pa.; a 4-H leader; member and officer of Dorsett Grange 1888 of Concord, Pa.; and a member of Blair County Providers Association.

She is survived by her husband, Richard S. Doyle, whom she married Jan. 29, 1996; a daughter, Tracy Smith of Dry Run; five stepchildren; a sister, Lisa McCartney of Dry Run; a brother, P. Michael Doyle of Doylesburg, Pa.; a foster brother, Chester Perry of Spring Run; eight stepgrandchildren, including Ashley Doyle, who lived with her; four nieces and a nephew.
