CATONSVILLE - Kenan Cole made a layup and free throw with 38 seconds left giving St. John's at Prospect Hall the lead for good in a victory over Mt. DeSalles on Sunday.
Trailing 21-12 at halftime, SJPH tied the game midway through the third quarter and the teams traded the lead until Cole's basket. Cole scored 21 of her game-high 32 points in the second half. Melissa Showers iced the game when she sank two free throws after grabbing a defensive rebound with two seconds left in the game.
Cole, who scored 13 points in the third quarter, finished with 12 rebounds. Teammate Malinda Anders grabbed nine rebounds and had six assists for SJPH (3-13).

ALFRED, N.Y. - Falling behind by 15 at halftime, Hagerstown Community College closed the gap to four points with four minutes left but could not overtake Alfred.
Shanna Williams scored 19 points, including a 5-for-6 effort from 3-point range, to spark HCC's second-half rally.
Tia Ferguson had 14 points and 12 rebounds, Brooke Russ had 10 rebounds and Williams dished out six assists for HCC (12-7).

Mercersburg third
VALLEY FORGE, Pa. - Jeremy Berry finally won a title in his fourth try, and took home the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler award to boot, as Mercersburg finished third at the prestigious Valley Forge Cadet Invitational on Saturday.
The Blue Storm finished with 169 points behind Berry's triumph at 152 and three other titles. Josh Grahe (125) won his third title at this tournament, while Aaron Groves (135) and Tom Schwanbenaur (275) also were victorious.
Mercersburg also got a third from Steve Toddes (119).
Waynesboro 12th
HARRISBURG, Pa. - Waynesboro's John Lisko won the 152-pound weight class in the Mid Penn Conference meet on Saturday. He went 5-0 to increase his record 19-3.
Wayneboro finished 12th in the team competition. Lynn Fortney went 6-1 for third place at 189.
