Mary H. Peyton

SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Mary H. "Holly" Peyton, 46, of 7387 Shady Palm Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Va.

Born July 25, 1953, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Amos Hollis Anderson of Hagerstown and the late Mary Virginia Gale Anderson.

She was a 1971 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and a 1975 graduate of James Madison University with a bachelors degree.

She was an interior designer with Dupont in Sterling, Va.

She was a member of Sydenstryker United Methodist Church, Springfield.

She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority; secretary of the Choral Patrons Association of West Springfield High School; treasurer of Madrigal Singers; National Association of Interior Designers; President of Northern Virginia Floor Covering Association; a member of Queen Esther Chapter 3 Order of the Eastern Star; the Past Honor Queen of Bethel 26 International Order of Jobs Daughters, both of Hagerstown.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her stepmother, Crena L. Anderson; her husband, George D. Peyton II; a daughter, Nicole D. Peyton at home; two sons, George D. Peyton Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., and Tyler R. Peyton at home; a sister, Gale A. Terenzino of Pittsburgh; a niece; a nephew and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard W. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carl W. Teays

Carl William "Karl" Teays, 63, of 11907 Harp Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at University of Maryland Hospital.

Born June, 17, 1936, in Berryville, Va., he was the son of the late Robert Edward Sr. and Daisy Virginia Tomblin Teays.

He was employed as a truck driver and a security guard for Tri State Motor Transit in Northeast, Md.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a Baptist.

He was a member of AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Smith Teays; four sons, Michael Lynn Teays of Florida, Mark Anthony Teays, Scott William Teays and James Robert Teays, all of Hagerstown; a brother, Robert E. Teays Jr. of Sharpsburg; a sister, Elizabeth Teays Ledger of Massachusetts; two granddaughters; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. John C. Koontz Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh's Cemetery, Rouzerville, Pa.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary L. Appleby

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Mary Lee Appleby, 70, of 212 Broad St., died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville, Md.

Born Jan. 26, 1929, in Woodsboro, Md., she was the daughter of the late Carl Lee and Grace Mae Beard Keeney.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, where she sang in the choir and had served on various committees.

She is survived by her husband, A. Eugene Appleby; a daughter, Gail M. Mathews of Walkersville; a son, Gene L. Appleby of Middletown; two sisters, Ruth L. Fuller of Severn, Md., and Isabel Lakin of Walkersville; two brothers, C. Monroe Keeney of Middletown and Harold T. Keeney of Frederick, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 306, Middletown, MD 21769.

John W. Edwards

INWOOD, W.Va. - John Walter Edwards, 82, of Inwood, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at City Hospital.

Born June 11, 1917, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late George and Ella Hess Edwards.

He was retired from Lewis and Kilmer Orchards.

He was a member of United Commercial Travelers and AARP.

He was a Lutheran.

He is survived by his wife, Elinor Saville Edwards; a son, James W. Edwards of Inwood; three grandchildren, Jamie Edwards, Kimberly Barrett and Jessica Shafer; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna Shafer; three sisters and five brothers. He was the last of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Revs. John E. Wright and Walter F. Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in Arden United Methodist Church Cemetery, Arden, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
