Globetrotters to make return visit to HCC

The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters are coming again to Hagerstown Community College.

The touring basketball team will play at the college's Athletic, Recreation and Community Center at 7 p.m. March 2.

They performed at the college in March 1998 and agreed to come back, said HCC Hawk Boosters President Todd McDowell.

As was the case in 1998, the booster club is sponsoring the Globetrotters game. The event is a fund-raiser for the school's athletic scholarships.

"It was a very fun evening," McDowell said of the 1998 event, which he said drew a sellout crowd of about 2,700 people. This time, they hope to sell 3,000 tickets by bringing in extra seats, he said.

The Globetrotters will play against the New York Nationals, a traveling team that accompanies them.

Tickets range in price from $12 to $70. The $70 seats are front row and come with a team jersey, McDowell said. There are $10 discount tickets available for spectators over 60 and under 10 years old.

Tickets must be purchased at the community center lobby. Call 301-790-2800, ext. 309, for information.

The 1999-2000 tour, titled "Positively Magical," is sponsored by Denny's restaurants.
