Murphy, Deane & Gaffey

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jan D. Bruneske, of Martinsburg, has been awarded the Personal Financial Specialist designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

She is the tax manager with Murphy, Deane & Gaffey, P.L.C., of Fairfax, Va.

Bruneske met six requirements on personal income tax planning, risk management and insurance planning, investment planning, retirement planning and estate planning. She also maintained 250 hours experience annually for three years.

Lutheran Home Care Services

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lutheran Home Care Services has named Thelma McLucas Employee of the Month for January.

McLucas, of Greencastle, Pa., is a nurse in the Franklin County office.

She has been with Lutheran Home Care Services for 17 years.


Longaberger Regional Advisor Linda Bowers, of Hagerstown, recently attended the Longaberger Co.'s annual Advisors Meeting in Columbus, Ohio.


During the three-day convention, advisors attended training sessions, received recognition for their management accomplishments and had the opportunity to network with advisors from around the country.

Advisors direct and train the independent sales consultants they sponsor, helping them to establish and build their own business selling Longaberger baskets and other items.

Chambersburg Community Theatre

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg Community Theatre Inc. has hired Sally Herritt of Shippensburg, Pa., as its new community relations coordinator.

Her duties will include promoting productions and the organization, and working with fund-raising and membership activities.

A member of Chambersburg Community Theatre since 1982, Herritt has appeared in more than 25 productions and worked behind the scenes in others.

She has worked as the organization's business manager since 1992.

FREDERICK, Md. - McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond have announced that Certified Public Accountant Wayne E. Baldwin Jr. has joined the accounting and business consulting firm as a manager of accounting and auditing services for its Frederick office.

Baldwin, of Mount Airy, Md., has 13 years experience in public accounting, with a heavy concentration in construction and not-for-profit industries.

Potomac Family Medicine

Dr. Kelli A. Strauss, family practitioner with Potomac Family Medicine in Hagerstown, recently passed the recertification test to retain her board certification as a family practice specialist.

Elan Plastic Surgical Center

FREDERICK, Md. - Dr. Donald Kress, of Elan Plastic Surgical Center in Frederick, has attended two conferences on anti-aging.

The Serono Conference lasted three days in Phoenix, and highlighted the most current research on hormone replacement therapy.

The American Association of Anti-Aging Medicine, of which Kress is a member, held a conference in Las Vegas which he attended on nutritional and alternative medicine research.


Sharrett Inc. recently recognized 10 employees for their years of service.

Patty Stotler, Don Steward, Bill Workman and George Carman each received a 35 mm camera for five years service.

Greg Miles and Gary Knode each received a 19-inch color TV for 10 years service.

Doug Myers and Mark Reed each received a watch for 15 years service.

Devin Bard and Alan Deaner each received a $900 gift certificate for a cruise or vacation for 25 years service.

NBC 25

NBC 25 has added five new staff members.

They are Abby Pelletiere, news reporter; Lisa Roche, account executive; Stephen Jamieson, sports reporter; Troy Hale, live truck operator; and Dina Poland, account executive.

Six employees have been promoted.

Lyn Bell was promoted to anchor/producer, news at noon, from reporter; Terry Brown was promoted to live truck operator from production assistant; Stephanie Pitsnogle was promoted to traffic assistant from receptionist; Jim Stanton was promoted to news reporter from Shippensburg University intern; James Jenkins was promoted to supervising director from director; and Steve Zaks was promoted to promotions director from production assistant.

Recent Employees of the Month include Jenkins for November and Brad Ferris for December.

Hagerstown/Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau

Julie Hoff, director of sales for the Hagerstown/Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, recently attended the Pennsylvania Bus Association's Annual Sales Retreat held in Ocean City, Md.

Hoff met with tour operators to discuss Hagerstown and Washington County as a future tour destination.

The Hagerstown/Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau hopes to eventually host the association's annual conference.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County recently elected Raymond C. Holton as its president for 2000.

Other newly elected officers include Trina Johnson, first vice president; Kelli Lawrence, second vice president; Virginia Coleman, secretary; and Kenneth Graber, treasurer.

Members elected to a three-year term of office include Verna Brown, Alan Davis, Lisa Fennel and Pamela Grove. Douglas Fiery was elected to a two-year term, and Fred Barrett was elected to a one-year term.
