Virginia E. Beitzel

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Virginia E. Beitzel, 83, of 6950 Lincoln Way East, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown.

Born Dec. 15, 1918, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lester V. and Nellie E. Wegley Berklite.

Her husband, Leroy E. Beitzel Sr., died Dec. 26, 1999.

She was a graduate of Waynesboro High School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Union United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

She is survived by two sons, Leroy E. Beitzel Jr. of Fayetteville, and Samuel L. Beitzel of Burke, Va.; two sisters, Geraldine Zartler of Bath, Pa., and Dorothy Huber of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; one brother, Joseph Berklite of Alburtus, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Berklite.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Menno B. Sollenberger will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Union United Methodist Church, 7881 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, PA 17222.

Catherine E. Smith

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Catherine E. Smith, 85, of Myersville, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at her home.

Born Sept. 10, 1914, in Wolfsville, she was the daughter of the late Ary R. and Emma Jane Blickenstaff Kline.

Her husband, Cyrus J. Smith, died in 1990.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville, and the Adult Sunday School Class.

She is survived by one son, Ronald L. Smith of Myersville; two sisters, Margaret Marie Flook of Chambersburg, Pa., and Elva Crawford of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Grossnickle; and three brothers, John Roger Kline, Carroll Meredith Kline and Ary Michael Kline.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville. The Rev. Norman Kemmerer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 299, Myersville, MD 21773.

Dennis W. Stonebreaker Sr.

WILLIAMSPORT - Dennis Wanard Stonebreaker Sr., 22, of 38 E. Frederick St., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in Hagerstown.

Born July 17, 1977, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Charles William and Robin Elizabeth Stonebreaker of Williamsport and Bobby Neal and Sharon Kay Evans of Hagerstown.

He was employed by Gruber Building, Cleaning and Restoration as an apprentice mason.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Dennis Wanard Stonebreaker Jr., of Westminster, Md.; maternal grandmother, Margaret Alexander of Hagerstown; paternal grandmother, Helen Stonebreaker of Clear Spring; a sister, Tara L. Stonebreaker of Hagerstown; a brother, Charles M. Stonebreaker of Williamsport; two stepsisters, Karrie A. Mullan of Ridgeley, W.Va., and Nicole E. DeLauter of Williamsport; two stepbrothers, Rusty M. Edwards of Winchester and Jason M. Edwards of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Ed Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.

Mary L. Clopper

BOONSBORO - Mary Louise Clopper, 97, of 225 Potomac St., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at her home.

Born Dec. 14, 1902, in Mount Carmel, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Flora Miss Haller.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.

She also was a member of AARP.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine Shoemaker and Nancy Kretzer, both of Boonsboro; two sons, Thomas Clopper of Funkstown, and Charles F. Clopper of Boonsboro; one sister, Ruth Reeder of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Ron Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Calvin L. Crouse Jr.

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Calvin Lee Crouse Jr., 49, of Rt. 4, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Feb. 3, 1950, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Calvin Lee Sr. and Frances Barrett Crouse of Shepherdstown, W.Va.

He was a carpenter for Vasco Home Improvements, Hagerstown.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Vietnam.

He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896, V.F.W.
