Smith-Rau




Glenn and Sue Smith of Williamsport announce the engagement of their daughter, Alice M. Smith of Westminster, Md., to Christopher J. Rau of Westminster, son of Richard and Carol Woerner of Manchester, Md., and the late Thomas W. Rau.

Ms. Smith is a 1987 graduate of Williamsport High School and a 1991 graduate of Western Maryland College with a major in mathematics and a minor in secondary education. She received a master's degree in school administration from Western Maryland College in 1993. She is employed as a teacher and coach at Francis Scott Key High School in Carroll County.

Mr. Rau is a 1990 graduate of North Carroll High School and received a two-year certificate in mechanical design and computer-aided drafting from R.E.T.S. Technical Institute. He is employed by Corvis Corp. in Columbia, Md.

Weaver-Snyder




Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Weaver of Springfield, Va., and Ocean City, Md., and formerly of Hagerstown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Angela Lynn Weaver, to Karl Thomas Snyder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Snyder of Titusville, N.J.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and holds a master's degree from Southern Illinois University. She is employed as a career counselor in Richmond, Va.

The future groom completed both his engineering undergraduate and graduate degrees at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. He is employed at Capital One in Richmond.

A fall wedding is planned.

Ponseti-Beard




Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Beard of Hagerstown wish to announce the engagement of their son, Allen Michael Beard, to Ann Elizabeth Ponseti, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Sidney Ponseti of Metairie, La.

Miss Ponseti is a 1994 graduate of Grace King High School in Metairie and a 1998 graduate of University of New Orleans with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. She received a teaching certificate for secondary education in mathematics, chemistry and general science in Louisiana in 1999. She is employed by Edmund Lee & Associates Inc. in Metairie.

Mr. Beard is a 1984 graduate of North Hagerstown High School, a 1986 graduate of Hagerstown Junior College, a 1989 graduate of University of Maryland, College Park, with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering and a 1991 and 1997 graduate of Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., with master of science and doctor of philosophy degrees in chemical engineering. He is employed by Albemarle Corp. in Baton Rouge, La.

A March 18 wedding is planned.

Grimm-Faith




Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Grimm wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Jean Grimm, to Terry Lee Faith, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Faith.

Miss Grimm is a 1997 graduate of Williamsport High School. She will graduate from Hagerstown Business College in April with an associate's degree in business administration. She is employed as a waitress.

Mr. Faith is a 1993 graduate of Clear Spring High School. He is restaurant general manager at a local Pizza Hut restaurant.

A September wedding is planned.

Sobus-Yates




Mr. and Mrs. Casimir Sobus of Hagerstown wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Christine Sobus, to Jason Sundance Yates, son of David and Linda Moats of Williamsport.

Ms. Sobus is a 1997 graduate of Williamsport High School and is attending West Virginia University.

Mr. Yates is a 1997 graduate of Williamsport High School. He is serving in the U.S. Army, assigned with the 82nd Airborne, Division 1st Battalion 1/505 Parachute Infantry Regiment.

Moseley-Zirkle




Mr. and Mrs. James Moseley of Maugansville wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Cherina Lynn Moseley, to Leon Wayne Zirkle, son of Leon and Nancy Zirkle of Little Orleans, Md.

Miss Moseley is a 1998 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. She is employed by Direct Mail Processors Inc. in Hagerstown as a data entry clerk.

Mr. Zirkle is a 1995 graduate of Flintstone High School and a 1997 graduate of Allegany College. He is employed by Myers Building Systems Inc. in Clear Spring.

Horst-Shank




Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Horst Sr. of Clear Spring wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Stacy Lynn Horst, to Brenton John Shank, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shank of Smithsburg.

Ms. Horst is a 1997 graduate of Clear Spring High School and will graduate from Hagerstown Community College this spring. She is employed by Washington County Board of Education.

Mr. Shank is a 1995 graduate of Smithsburg High School and a 1997 graduate of Hagerstown Community College. He will graduate from Frostburg State University this spring with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is employed as an assistant manager with Harris Savings Bank.

An Oct. 21 wedding is planned.

Rowland-Drawbaugh
