January 06, 2000

A bag containing four handguns, two of them loaded, was found Thursday morning under a porch in the 200 block of South Locust Street, Hagerstown City Police said.

Police have learned that one of the guns, a Ruger .357 magnum, was reported stolen to Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg, Pa., on Nov. 24, according to Lt. Charles Summers.

The carpet-style bag also contained a Colt Python .357 magnum, a Colt .45 government model automatic, and a Ruger 9mm semi-automatic, Summers said.

The call came in at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and a police cruiser was sent to the scene to take possession of the bag, Summers said.
