Nine people were arrested in a prostitution and drug sting in Hagerstown beginning New Year's Eve, according to the Hagerstown Police Department.
As part of the effort, a police officer posed as a prostitute to catch people solicting prostitution, said Sgt. John Ryder.
A police officer was also selling drugs on downtown streets to catch people purchasing the controlled substances, Ryder said.
The names of the people arrested were not available Saturday night.
Investigators were still completing paperwork on the sting, and they anticipated releasing the names of those arrested on Monday, Ryder said.
The operation started at 6 p.m. Friday evening and concluded at 4 a.m., Ryder said.
