Taking full advantage of two technical fouls on Smithsburg, Williamsport used a 17-point margin in the fourth quarter to turn a close game into a 59-38 blowout.

The Wildcats (6-2, 4-1) cracked the game open with a 9-0 run in the fourth, with seven of those points coming after technical fouls on Smithsburg coach Dave Morris.

Junior guard Apollo Bey had just made a basket to help Smithsburg cut Williamsport's lead down to 37-33 with 5 minutes, 32 seconds left in the fourth quarter before Morris' first technical.

Williamsport point guard Ryan Grabill made both free throws and then a layup for a four-point play. After a defensive stop, Williamsport took a 43-33 lead with 4:52 left on a basket by Adam McAllister.

Ten seconds later, Morris was nailed with his second technical foul. This time, it cost the Leopards three points as Grabill sank the second of his two foul shots and guard Corey Wolfensberger made a layup to give the Wildcats a 46-33 advantage.

After giving up 16 points during the first quarter, Williamsport then held Smithsburg to a total of just 22 points during the last three quarters combined.

"We played very well defensively during the last three quarters," Williamsport coach Deron Crawford said. "When you turn up the defensive intensity, then you are going to be successful. We just talked about playing good fundamental man-to-man defense."

Grabill had 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Wolfensberger scored 12 points and center Josh Martin added 10 points and seven rebounds for Williamsport.
