Elton H. Strunk

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Elton H. Strunk, 84, of 2269 Pine Grove Road, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.

He was born July 3, 1915, in Wyomissing, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alverda M. Conrad Strunk, in 1997.

He retired from Boyertown Body Works in Boyertown, Pa.

He was a member of Gilbertsville Fire Company in Gilbertsville, Pa.; Boyertown Hook and Ladder Company in Boyertown; and Teamsters Union.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol Strunk at home and Ann Seyler of Chambersburg; a son, Larry E. Strunk of Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepson, Russell Weller Jr. of Oley, Pa.; a sister, Mae Strunk of Fleetwood, Pa.; three grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.

Service and burial will be private.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg.

Paul J. Zitterbart Jr.

STATE LINE, Pa. - Paul John Zitterbart Jr., 68, of State Line, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 13, 1931, in Latrobe, Pa., he was the son of the late Paul John and Marguerite Pearson Zitterbart Sr.

He was employed by Pangborn Corp., retiring in 1991.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Holy Family Church in Latrobe, Pa.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 378; and Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Joyce M. Zitterbart; and a sister, Lavonne Ruffner of Tucson, Ariz.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. John C. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown.

Robert J. Binau

SMITHSBURG - Robert John Binau, 53, of Smithsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 21, 1946, he was the son of Robinson and Florence Mobley Binau of Hagerstown.

He worked as a dispatcher for the Hagerstown City Police. He was a former radio announcer for station WJEJ. His radio name was Bob Montgomery.

He was a member of Antietam Ham Radio Association; Local Union ASSCME 1540 of Hagerstown; and he was involved in Collie and German Shepherd rescues.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Susan Shapiro; a niece; an uncle and cousins.

A memorial service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown. Monsignor Edward Manales will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Pauline V. Helfrick

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Pauline V. Burkholder Helfrick, 74, of 20 N. Franklin St., died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born May 22, 1925, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Ida Niswander Burkholder.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Melvin Helfrick, in 1966. They were married June 12, 1943.

She attended Brown's Mill School in Kauffman Station.

She was a waitress at Newberry's in Waynesboro; Waynesboro County Club; and Best Western of Waynesboro, where she retired in the mid-1980s.

She was a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 Ladies Auxiliary of Waynesboro; and National AARP.

She is survived by two daughters, Doris M. Rogers and Rosalie A. Price, both of Waynesboro; two sons, Harold E. Helfrick and Kenneth L. Helfrick, both of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. Pastor Michael V. Newman will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Wayne C. Hill

ARLINGTON, Va. - Wayne C. Hill, 57, of Arlington and Martinsburg, W.Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Arlington Hospital.

Born April 19, 1942, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jesse Monroe and Margaret Oliver Hill.

He was a 1960 graduate of Martinsburg High School.

He retired from the Internal Revenue Service.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lord Hill; a daughter, Jessica P. Hill of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Reymann W. Hill of Martinsburg; a sister, Gay Hill Dawson of Atlanta; two grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Russell Siler will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
