City applying to extend revitalization boundaries

December 23, 1999

The City of Hagerstown is applying to extend the boundaries of the Hagerstown Revitalization Area, which is eligible for additional government grants and loan programs because it is recognized as a revitalization area.

One of the proposed expansions would bring the revitalization area to property along Wesel Boulevard near Burhans Boulevard which has been identified as the preferred site for a new baseball stadium and railroad museum.

The existing revitalization area includes nearly the entire downtown area and most of the surrounding central Hagerstown area.

An expansion of the revitalization area boundaries must be approved by the state.
