Hubs gets first win: North pulls away against Clear Spring

The North Hagerstown girls basketball team can commence dreams of sugarplums and other good things for Christmas.

There certainly won't be any coal in the Hubs' stockings after executing the game plan Wednesday night and beating Clear Spring 55-30 for their first win of the season.

"It was a nice way to end before the Christmas break," North Hagerstown coach Diane Telemko said. "The girls have really worked hard. We are starting to work well together and we are blending better as a team."

The only lead that Clear Spring (0-6) had was at 7-6 with 3:36 remaining in the first quarter. It lasted until point guard Dana Kline made a layup to give North Hagerstown (1-4) the lead for good.

The Hubs led by six at the break, then pushed it to double digits for the rest of the night with the first two baskets of the second half.

Autumn Parson had game highs of 13 points and eight rebounds, while Kline scored 12 points. Carrie White had 10 points for Clear Spring.

"We couldn't handle the basketball, we couldn't catch the basketball and we didn't rebound well tonight," Clear Spring coach Brad Elwood said. "We did nothing right tonight fundamentally. When that happens, you don't win."
