Washington County Hospital will offer a series of diabetes education classes for patients, families and friends.

Beginning Thursday, Jan. 13, six two-hour classes will be held on consecutive Thursdays through Feb. 17. Topics include diagnosis and control, diet, medication, foot care, exercise, emotional issues and long-term care. Classes are taught by physicians, registered nurses, registered dietitians, physical therapists, pharmacists and social workers.

The classes will be offered at two times each Thursday. Participants may choose 10 a.m. to noon at Church of the Brethren, Washington and Mulberry streets, Room 302; or 4 to 6 p.m. at Robinwood Medical Center, Suite 102.

Recognized by American Diabetes Association, the program is tailored to meet the needs of patients and may include individual assessment, group instruction, diet prescription and follow-up visits. The first class is free. Other fees are based on classes and any additional services provided. Registration is required.
